Mininvasive Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery refers to the set of techniques that allow the performance of more or less complex surgical procedures without the need to make large incisions in the abdomen: this category includes laparoscopic surgery and the more recent robotic surgery. The technological evolution of minimally invasive instrumentation and the research of the pioneers of these techniques allow today to perform more and more complex interventions with minimally invasive technique.

About me

I am Professor of Hepato-biliary-pancreatic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Southampton and until June 2024 I was the Director of the Surgical Department at the Fondazione Poliambulanza Hospital Institute in Brescia, where I also directed the General Surgery Operating Unit. I am considered one of the world experts in Minimally Invasive Surgery and currently I perform 95% of my surgeries with minimally invasive technique (laparoscopic and robotic).

I have played an active role in the publication of a large number of scientific articles and in the elaboration and description of many innovative surgical techniques. I have also collaborated in the creation of the Guidelines on Laparoscopic Liver Surgery and the International Guidelines for Minimally Invasive Pancreatic Surgery.
